Richard Branson is one of the owners of one of the most influential companies in Britain. His company Virgin Active offers many different services from them opening gyms, to providing wifi and travel across the planet, Richard Branson has done a great job. Richard Branson is a businessman who has a net worth of 5.6 billion dollars. Due to all of the great services he has provided he was knighted in 2000 and he has the privilege of being called Sir Richard Branson. Richard Branson was born on 18th July 1950 in London. Richard Branson when he was young always stated that he had a desire to be rich and run his own business however he had some difficulties. One of those difficulties was that he was dyslexic. Richard Branson attended Scaitcliffe School but he did have to move school so he also went to Stowe School. Richard Branson had poor academic grades and he found it hard to focus in school. His headmaster at the time told him that he would either be in prison or he would be a millionaire.

Richard Branson having a mother who was an entrepreneur and had that mindset helped him out. However, things didn’t get to the best of starts for him. He tried to run a business growing and selling Christmas trees but that eventually failed. In 1966 he started a magazine called Student, the magazine started gaining popularity and was first shown in 1968 at that time Richard Branson had a net worth of around 50,000 pounds. This wasn’t just a small magazine he had his time in the limelight as he was able to interview names like Mick Jagger and R.D Lang. Despite this early success, the bulk of Richard Branson’s career came from the company Virgin Active. Virgin Active offer multiple amounts of topics which include the likes of films, wifi, Radio, Music, Books, and many more. However, it started as a record label. The name Virgin was given because the employees had never done this type of business before so they were all new. Virgin Active had great success and was able to such a lot of popular musicians at the time which include the likes of the Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood, and many more. After they started to expand their business and move onto other ventures. In the early eighties, they started moving towards travel. Richard Branson then formed the Virgin Athletic, Virgin Cargo, and Virgin Holidays. This wasn’t the only thing Richard Branson transition into he was able to launch Virgin Mobile, Virgin Blue, Virgin Media, Virgin Healthcare, and Virgin Galatic.

Personal Life

Richard Branson has had his fair share of trouble and was even convicted of tax evasion after he found a way to avoid paying purchase tax. He has even been caught having offshore accounts as well. Richard Branson has been married twice. The first time he was married to Kristen Tomassi in 1972 however they got divorced in 1979 and he has since been married to Joan Templeman and the couple got married in 1989 and they have three children.
