Reid Hoffman is an internet entrepreneur and author. He is the co-founder of Linkedin. He has a net worth of 1.8 billion dollars. Linkedin has become very important for people who want to find contacts and get jobs. It offers people a service when their connections can get them further in life. Reid Hoffman was born on August 5, 1967, in California. Reid Hoffman had a normal childhood. He was someone who enjoyed tabletop roleplaying games. At the age of 12 he got his first job, he was an editor at Chaosium. Reid Hoffman went to the Putney School. When he got to university he chose to go to Stanford University, he graduated in Symbolic Systems and Cognitive Science. He didn’t stop there; he went to Wolfson College, Oxford. Reid Hoffman began his career with Linkedin in 2002, he co-founded the company with his two other friends. On May 5th, 2003 the company was officially launched. Linkedin was one of the first real business-related social networks online. The company aimed to get people with decorated CV in touch with the businessman. This social networking service has become a major success. By the time 2004 had reached they had hit 1 million users on the site. And it only took them three more years for them to hit 10 million users. The company was only getting bigger and bigger and they were spending up to 154 million dollars on advertising revenue alone in 2011. They also had 2100 employees. Microsoft another popular company decided they wanted to acquire the services of Linkeldn and they spend a fortune to do so. The fee was upwards of $26.2 billion in cash. This is a huge amount of money especially as the purchase was made in cash but as a result, Reid Hoffman became a Microsoft board member. Reid Hoffman wasn’t just involved with Linkeldn but he was also one of the board members for Paypal. Paypal is a service where you can website where you can buy what you want online. Reid Hoffman was responsible for managing all the external relationships of Paypal. Reid Hoffman a man of many talents is also a very good investor.
